Ms. Lisa Benini, MBCP, FBCI, CRM

Ms. Lisa Benini founded and incorporated Benini Consulting Ltd. in May 2000 to provide advisory and consulting services for business continuity, emergency and risk management programs to wide range of companies in the public and private sectors.
Ms. Benini’s introduction to the field of business continuity began in 1991 after taking one of the first Canadian courses offered by DRI International. She was working at Canadian Western Natural Gas in Calgary as a Business Systems Analyst. From that point on, she developed and implemented a business continuity program for the Canadian Western Natural Gas.
In 1997 Ms. Benini embarked into the consulting world where she worked for two consulting companies before she started her own. First with Deucalion Continuity Planning Services, then with DMR Consulting Group in 1998. Here she moved to Victoria, BC, as a result of a contract with the BC Ministry of Health to build contingency plans for Y2K.
After the Year 2000, she continued to provide consulting and training services through her own company, Benini Consulting, while accepting employment in October 2001 with the Risk Management Branch, at the BC Ministry of Finance as the Senior Business Continuity Advisor. During her time with the BC Government, she was instrumental in the creation of the policy, framework, guidelines and templates for the BC Government Business Continuity Management Program. This program was transferred to a newly created agency, Emergency Management BC in April 2007. During that time, Ms. Benini spearheaded the creation of the government wide ranking report of critical government programs, and the concept of operations document which integrated business continuity into the BC Emergency Response Management System.
Ms. Benini has enjoyed being an employee for organizations and taking them forward with developing comprehensive business continuity programs, to providing her advice and expertise to organizations through her consulting practice. She has also found working with other outstanding consulting firms complement her expertise while bringing the best expertise to manage projects around business continuity, emergency management and risk management. Her philosophy is to ensure that the work she provides is a lasting legacy, which is embraced and accepted by the organization as value added.
Ms. Benini has continued working in the consulting field since leaving the BC Government Emergency Management BC in 2008 providing her expertise in Business Continuity Management, Emergency Management and Risk Management.
